Not tomorrow, but right now?
Here’s a tip to make it happen:
Submit some of your blog posts to StumbleUpon.
I submitted a few of my blog posts from one of my other blogs (TillHeComes.org) to StumbleUpon last night. In two hours, I got 218 extra hits on my site.
Not bad for five minutes of work, right?
I am by no means an expert on StumbleUpon. However, in my limited knowledge, there are a few things I did to get Stumbled.
Write Provacative Blog Post Titles
First, when StumbleUpon suggests sites to Stumblers (readers), it gives them a screenshot of your blog and your post title. So, make sure your blog looks good, and most importantly, only submit blog posts with provocative and interesting titles.
I submitted these:
- Why I am Always Right
- Arguments Against Inerrancy
- Inerrancy of Scripture Seminary Notes (Not so provocative…)
- The Bible Contains Errors
Submit using Keywords
Second, when you submit your blog post, use keywords. You can use the presets, but you can also use a few other keywords that might help StumbleUpon classify and suggest your post to Stumblers.
When I submitted my posts, I used the keywords “Religion, Christianity, Bible, Theology.” You can see from the screenshot above that the first two of these are actual StumbleUpon interests, but the last two are not.
And that is all I did. Honestly. I am actually a little shocked at the results.
So here are my questions. Have you used StumbleUpon? Have you found similar results? Are there tips or tricks you have found in using the site that you want to share here?
I am going to submit this blog post, and see what happens. You can watch the stats there on the left in my Sharebar. (Here is a post on how to get StumbleUpon in your sharebar.)
